Petbarn Chirnside Park

Super shop to visit. Petbarn Chirnside Park seem to have quite a large store, very clean and everything is fully stocked. I needed an inflatable dog collar and the Chirnside Park store had a lot more stock than other shops. Staff were also super helpful. I was served with a very friendly staff member who recommended another, softer product. Highly recommend popping in.

We bought an item from this shop and got told if it doesn’t work we could return it.. It didn’t work but they wouldn’t give a refund . They need to train their staff to be more clear when selling certain items and on their refund policies . The store manager is very rude and passive aggressive and it’s actually humans buying the products not the pets. Will not use pet barn again .

Staff are nice, but need to be educated on the correct ways to approach dogs. I have brought my dog here since he was quite young and we have worked on building his confidence a lot. Unfortunately staff repeatedly fail to read that while he is a friendly dog he is not always interested in being pat and try to force him to interact with them. On our visits staff have approached and pat my dog without asking permission, approached us from behind and touched him, scaring him. It might be worth educating staff that getting into a dogs face and talking loudly can be intimidating to them. A better approach can be to ask the owner permission to pat and calmly wait for the dog to approach you if they would like to. Luckily we have built my dogs confidence and resilience enough that while he left a bit stressed and uncomfortable he was able to shake it off. This might not be the case for other dogs and these kinds of forced interactions can be pretty damaging. This is unfortunate, we won’t be returning as we have found another pet shop nearby with staff that understand more about dog body language and are able to communicate with owners.

Thankyou to Caroline for her customer service, guidance and advice in assisting me to choose the right blend of foods for my English staffy. I felt overwhelmed by the food choices but thanks to Caroline I left feeling confident and now my Millie is scratching way less. Caroline even helped me to carry the food to the car. You made my day!

Didn’t appreciate the passive aggressive comments the female staff member made to my puppy about me putting reindeer antlers on him, who was completely unfazed by the way. Don’t walk up to peoples dogs and make rude comments about the owners to the pets. I put the stuff down I was going to buy because of her unnecessary remarks.

The team at this store were great, the customer service leaves you feeling like you are catching up with your best mate. They are super helpful and informative, and interact very positively with each other. The whole experience was great and although this store is over an hour from my home It is worth the drive! Thank you, keep up the good work!
